As I'm writing from the really, truly silly rubber keyboard at my hostel in Tours, this is going to be short. Wait, did she say Tours? I didn't think that was on the itinerary. Well, it wasn't until I discovered this great bike rental shop online and thus the Loire à Vélo program, and the sweet B and B where I'm staying tomorrow and Monday. It seems that much of Brittany is closed in the off season and in general oriented toward many coastal activities that wouldn't be so fun in March, so I decided to come here for part of my time.
That said about Brittany, Nantes was super. Thought not administratively part of the region, Nantes is ws the historicl capital of Bretagne, and people are still agitating today for its reattachment to that region. More later at a better computer on my time there.
The last two days in Avignon were good, too. I had two nice runs -- one along the Rhone and one on the Ile de la Barthelasse. I also was in awe touring through the Palais de Papes and enjoyed some incredible bread.
Then it was the train to Bordeaux (via Montpellier) for the night where I stayed at a not-super hostel and bought a bottle of juice at a supermarket where I had to check my bag at the door. But I did get to listen to rousing chorus of "Cumpleanos Feliz" over breakfast from the massive group of Spanish teenagers who were also staying there.
Internet is running out, so a real post to come when I finish the cycling and chateaux-ing!
